ThomasIsNoob – A Comedy Brand Identity

BACKGROUND:

ThomasIsNoob (previously ThomasIsAnNoob) is a start-up YouTube comedy skits channel specializing in parodies. A brand identity was needed to tie together a consistent message of "foolishness" and "fun".

PROBLEM:

The challenge was to create a brand identity that looked bad to represent "foolishness", but not terrible up to the point that it looks ugly.

SOLUTION:

After many unsuccessful attempts, I took a look back at my childhood drawings for inspiration. I noticed the use of hard edges combined with basic colours such as blue, green, red, and yellow created a sense of "foolishness". Therefore, I created a brand identity with hard edges, basic colours, and scattering patterns to find the balance between looking bad and good simultaneously.
